GeoPrint Guide: Seamless Geometric Patterns

In short: GeoPrint repeats a geometric motif over a seamless tile — dots, hexagons, zigzags, waves, damask, greek key, ikat and more. Pick from 168 patterns in ten families, or say what you want in a few words. The tile is seamless by construction, so there is no edge-matching.

What GeoPrint is for

GeoPrint is for abstract, geometric and graphic patterns rather than woven cloth or drawn flowers. The pattern is sampled over a torus, which means the surface wraps in both directions and the tile meets itself exactly at every edge. The stage is labelled as a seamless tile and the ruler shows real centimetres.

Ways to choose a pattern

The shelf. 168 patterns in ten families: Organic, Geometric, Textile, Wallpaper, Circles, Deco, Stripe, Modern, Abstract and Nature. Click a card to select it and it arrives with its own sensible defaults.
Words. Type "small cream polka dots on navy, half drop" and press "make it". It understands colours (an "on navy" or "navy ground" is the background), a scale (mini, medium, big), sparse or dense, simple or intricate, crisp or wobbly, grainy or smooth, and a layout (straight, half-drop, brick). It reads English and Turkish, and tells you which words it did not understand.

Key controls

Sliders — scale, density, detail, warp (how far the motif is pushed out of true), grain, horizontal and vertical position, and angle in 45° steps.
Repeat — straight, half-drop or brick, and the printed width of one repeat in centimetres, from 2 to 200.
Tile — the pixel size of one tile: 512, 768, 1024 or 1536.
Colour — two to eight inks from a palette, filled as ink on ground, cycling through the palette, or scattered. Click a colour in the strip to switch its ink on or off.
Seed — the same seed gives the same result, so a design can be recreated. Generate, Shuffle and Recolour give new variations; in the studio Generate and Shuffle cost a token each and Recolour is free.

Files

Export a PNG at 72, 150, 300 or 600 dpi, an A4 sheet at true size with centimetre rulers, or the inks as an ASE palette. There is no vector: the print is worked out per pixel rather than drawn as shapes, so there is no geometry to hand over. "On a product" shows the design on a framed print or a papered wall, and on a photographed shirt and dress. Frequently asked questions

What does "seamless by construction" mean?

The pattern is worked out as if the tile wraps onto itself, so there is no separate "make it tile" step. It is seamless from the first render.

Can I control the colours?

Yes. Choose two to eight inks from a palette, or name colours in the words box. Which colour is the ground is up to you: "on navy" makes navy the background.

Is GeoPrint available on the Free plan?

Yes. Every plan designs and exports GeoPrint; the plans differ in export points (EP) a month, tile size and dpi.
